CM says 20% seats in aided HSS must be allotted to students living within 3 kilometers

Chief Minister Dr. PramodSawant has informed that as per department rules all Grant-in-aid higher secondary schools have to compulsorily allot at least 20% of the seats to students living within a 3 kilometers radius.

The announcement followed claims of students being denied admission to nearby schools because of a bias toward higher scoring students.

If students are denied admission by any Higher Secondary School in the vicinity, they can register a complaint with the Education Department – this is provided they meet the admission criteria, informed Sawant.

Sawant also informed that 1.2 lakh square meters of land has been earmarked in Dhavorlim for setting up a Cujira like educational complex, to relocate city based schools from Margao.
