Govt turns blind eye toward Betul fort

The ancient fort in Betul is in ruins. Fort lovers and villagers have demanded that the 300 year old fort be repaired and restored.



 Betul is a coastal area in South Goa. There is a fort in the village having a historical importance.  It is said to have been built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj  in the year 1679. The 300- year-old fort is standing tall by protecting its identity on the mouth of Sal river. Sadly, it has not been registered in Archaeology department, as a result it is not being repaired. Locals say the government is duty bound to repair the fort as it has historic importance.
