SARPANCH, DEPUTY SARPANCH ELECTIONS

62 Sarpanchas posts have been reserved for women in 186 panchayats. Also 64 deputy sarpanch posts are reserved for women. This time the number of women panchas too has increased. In some panchayats there half women panchas. There are 44% women panchas across Goa.



In Tiswadi taluka, Jennifer Oliveria was elected unopposed as Sarpanch of St. Cruz Panchayat  while Inacio Domnic Pereira was elected as her deputy. Amy Fernandes was elected as Agasaim Sarpanch and Alen Silveira her deputy.


In Curca Bambolim Talaulim panchayat Sadhana Gonsalves and Leena Naik were elected as Sarpanch and deputy sarpanch respectively. In Siridao Pale panchayat Suvarna Kuncolienkar were elected as Sarpanch and Jitendra Mangeshkar as her deputy. All are backed by former St Andre MLA Francisco Silveira.

Only the Calangute panchayat has  gone out of Michael’s hand. However, his panels swept Arpora, Parra, Candolim. In Arpora Roshan Redkar was elected unopposed while Sushma Nagvekar was elected as his deputy.

While, in Parra Chandan Harmalkar was elected unopposed as Sarpanch while Michael’s son Daniel Lobo was elected as deputy sarpanch unopposed. In Candolim Aniceto Fernandes and Amalina Jose Dias were elected unopposed as Sarpanch and deputy sarpanch respectively. 

Aldona Congress Block President Prof. Ashwin de Souza elected as Aldona Sarpanch and Abhitnya Satardekar was elected as deputy sarpanch unopposed.

They were backed by Aldona MLA Carlos Ferriera. However, only Aldona was the only panchayat Carlos won. However, rest panchayats from Aldona constituency were won by BJP panel backed by former MLA Glenn Ticlo.

BJP led panel did a spectacular performance in Pernem taluka. BJP managed to grab Harmal, Mandrem, Morjim and Parcem  panchayats led by former BJP MLA Dayanand Sopte in MGP dominated Mandrem constituency. While, in Pernem taluka all 9 panchayats are captured by BJP led by Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar.
