The congress on Thursday came out guns blazing at the ruling with a rare appearance of Sonia Gandhi in a press conference. Congress party's top leadership didn't hold back as they accused the BJP of playing a dangerous game. The BJP, however, was quick to react. Here’s the full story.

Addressing a rare joint press conference, Sonia Gandhi accused PM Modi of orchestrating a systematic effort to financially cripple the Congress party. Accompanied by party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi alleged a dangerous game is being played by the government, demanding a level playing field in electoral politics.

Kharge, meanwhile, highlighted the recent Supreme Court ruling declaring electoral bonds illegal and unconstitutional, criticizing the BJP for allegedly filling its coffers through dubious means while freezing the Congress party's bank accounts.

Reacting to the allegations, BJP's Ravi Shankar Prasad slammed the opposition saying that the congress is ‘showing utter desperation of imminent defeat’.
