Polling for the Madhya Pradesh and for the 2nd and final phase of Chhattisgarh state assembly elections culminated on Friday. The tentative voter turnout till 5pm was 67.34% and 71.11% in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh respectively and the results are slated to be declared on December 3
Madhya Pradesh went to the polls on Friday, with all 230 state assembly seats up for grabs. A total of 2533 candidates including incumbent Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his predecessor Kamal Nath in the fray.
While BJP is seeking to retain their 18-year reign on the Hindi heartland, Congress is pushing to oust the Shivraj Singh Chouhan led government. The polls went mostly without a hitch, however, a stone pelting incident between two groups in 147-148 polling booths of Dhimani assembly constituency in MP’s Morena, injured 2.
