The feast of Three Kings denotes that the three kings come to worship baby Jesus by following a star.
The feast of Epiphany is celebrated on 6th of January, the day after Twelfth Night when Christmas officially comes to an end. The day is also considered as Baptism day of Baby Jesus.
The three gifts the kings carried had a spiritual meaning: gold as a symbol of kingship on earth, frankincense, an incense, as a symbol of deity and myrrh, an embalming oil, as a symbol of death.
In Salcete, three villages Cansaulim, Arossim and Cuelim together celebrate the feasts of Three Kings and Epiphany. Three youngsters dressed as kings come to the chapel on a hillock in Cuelim with their offerings.
No feast in Goa is complete without the roasted grams and groundnuts being sold outside the feast venue.
The feasts of Three Kings and Epiphany was also celebrated at Reis Magos-Verem with the usual pomp and gaiety. Three kings were portried by three local men, namely Nelson Andrade, Agnelo Machado and Alex Fernandes.
