Ace Cinematographer of Hindi Cinema 'Goenkar' Krishna Ghanekar celebrates his 100

Krishna Kamat Ghanekar, an ace cinematographer of Hindi cinema celebrated his birth centenary on Monday.



The son of the soil is a recipient of Lifetime achievement award by Dadasaheb Phalke Trust for his contributioans in the field of cinematography and advertising.

It’s an emotional and moment of pride for the entire Ghanekar family as the seniormost member of their family Krishna Kamat Ghanekar celebrates his 100th birthday.

A painter by profession, Krishna Ganekar has shot more than 500 advertisement films and has received many awards including Lifetime achievement by Western India Cinematographers Association, Award of Excellence by IAAFA, Hall of Fame Award for Pioneer Cameraman in the year 1989.

In the year 2011 he was awarded by the Dadasaheb Phalke Trust for his lifetime contributions in the field of cinematography and advertising. 

The highpoint of his cinematographic career was a tie up with internationally acclaimed Director, Shyam Benegal in film like “Ankur”, “Nishant”, “Bhumika”, “Manthan” and “Mandi”, where he was a technical Advisor. 


He also did additional photography for a Bengali film “Kalyug”.  He was the Technical Director in a classic serial “Bharat Ek Khoj”, again directed by Shyam Benegal for Doordarshan.
