The court dispute over Navdurga temple of Madkai has started once again while the annual jatra begins from Sunday.

As Mahajans want the chariot and other relgious vehicles to be locked up in the customary premises, the sessions court has appointed its officer. He will submit the report on Saturday, after which next hearing would be held in the evening.

In 2016, the Mahajans had petitioned to the High Court  to close down the  temple and  to disallow the zatra celebrations there. The mahajns had also claimed that the temple  was private property.

The High Court had turned down the request of the Mahajans. The court had ruled that  the rituals and festivals be carried out jointly by the Mahajans and the villagers.
