Two-wheeler gutted in fire at Balli

A two-wheeler was gutted in a fire at Bendode some distance away from Balli railway station on Wednesday.



The two-wheeler was completely was completely gutted before fire fighters could douse the fire. The two occupants escaped unhurt.

The incident took place at 1.20 p.m where a two-wheeler suddenly caught fire while travelling on the Balli-Cancona road. The Margao Fire Station was alerted about the incident. However, bike was completely burnt before the fire brigade could douse the fire. Margao fire station officer Mathew Vaz admitted that there was delay of 20 minutes due to distance.

Meanwhile, Balli local Shailendra Faldessai complained that Balli-Cuncoli village do not have independent fire station. He said that they are demanding a separate fire station for last 5 years but to no avail.
