GMC misplaces dead body of Aldona boy, CCP disposes it on the eve of funeral

Can you imagine your beloved dies and his dead body gets misplaced from the morgue? It happened in GMC.

The dead body of the 24-year old boy Janus Gonsalves from Aldona was kept in the GMC morgue.

When the bereaved family came to pick up the cadaver for funeral, the body was missing.

When enquired, it was found that the GMC had handed it over to Panaji Municipal Corporation to dispose it off, thinking it was an unclaimed body of one 45-year old.

And CCP disposed it.

A doctor and three others are now suspended and FIR filed and inquiry ordered, possibly a case of bolting the stable after the horse has bolted.

The health department is headed by Vishwajit Rane, already under fire for the formalin in fish issue.

But this time he moved quickly when the news spread. He immediately rushed to the GMC morgue, asked for an explanation.

And on receipt of the explanation, suspended three people including the doctor in charge.

An inquiry has been constituted and a FIR filed against the trio.

But the relatives were simply shocked when they did not find the dead body. The funeral was fixed on Saturday at 3.30 pm.

And on Saturday morning, they came to know that his body is not there in the morgue.

When they met GMC Dean Pradip Naik, the enquiry started.

Only to come to know that Janus’ body was handed over to the Panaji Municipal Corporation.

Thinking he is 45-old Vishant Naik, whose body was not claimed.

Aldona MLA Glen Ticlo reacted sharply to the incident.

And the Congress demanded that FIR be filed against the health minister.

It also wanted to know if this was a conspiracy and possibly the body was disposed off for its organs.
