While getting into the mood of Easter, on Saturday night, Goa got a shocking news.

The musical state lost 32-year old Sanya Cotta, considered to be a prodigy in violin.

She breathed her last in Belgium, fighting pneumonia for almost two months.

Her final rites will be held in Goa.

Daughter of Shcubert and Mecxy Cotta, Sanya got her hand on violin at the age of 4.

Since then, she had mastered command over violin while studying at Sharda Mandir and later at Dhempe Higher Secondary school in Panaji.

After XII standard, at the age of 18, she went abroad for higher studies in violin in Germany and Belgium.

Presently, she was playing violin for Belgium State Orchestra and was also teaching violin.

She was once interviewed by a TV channel in Goa 2007 while Goa’s veteran journalist Frederic Noronha had talked to her father Schubert.

After the sad demise of Sanya at St Luke’s Hospital in Brussels was announced on Facebook, condolence messages started flowing, paying tributes to this wonder girl Goa has lost.

They included pop star Remo Fernandes, fashion designer Wendell Rodricks, singer Sonia Sirsat and artist Yolanda de Souza.

Goa365 also spoke to Goa’s leading musician Armando Gonsalves.

Her family is presently in Germany. They are trying to get her cadaver to Goa after Easter holidays, for her final rites in her Agshi village.

Let’s listen to this violin genius and pay our tributes.
