Efforts are underway to start charters flights. These might might start through an air bubble or in other words point to point flights. But we have no idea when they would start, Dabolim airport director Gagan Malik said on Wednesday.

He also said they had received request for 350 slots from various airlines based in Russia and the UK.

However, TTAG former president Savio Messais was confident that flights from UK would resume after 19 December.

We are in middle of October and this is the time where charters normally start coming to Goa.

But due to the coronavirus pandemic, the charters have come to a standstill, Malik said.

He said that a plan for the charter had not been formed and all commercial international flight operations were closed as of now.

The Union government and governments of foreign countries would decide when to resume operations, he said.

Malik also said airport is operating at 30% capacity with domestic flights.

Former TTAG president Savio Messias said they have written to both the Centre and the state governments to give special consideration to Goa for charter flights.
