Squay Martial Arts issue: ‘Govt has no role to play’ says Sports Minister Gaude

In the midst of the Squay Martial Arts controversy at the National Games that erupted after a conflict between two state Squay Martial Arts associations, sports minister Govind Gaude said that the decision on players is taken by the association and the Olympic Association and not by the Sports Authority of Goa.

Sports Minister Govind Gaude said that government had tried to sort out the issue which basically erupted due to the existence of two associations. However, it was not possible to arrive at a compromise as no common ground was found resulting in a stalemate. There have been various issues with associations in the state that have brought the various sports into disrepute besides harming careers of players involved in the sport.
