Reason for water shortage: PWD is in loss, says minister

Water scarcity is a major issue in Goa.

Even though the rains are just over the people are already facing major water problems in many parts of the state.

Not just opposition but even coalition partners are openly criticizing PWD minister Sudin Dhavlikar for the lack of water in their respective constituencies.

But a defensive Dhavlikar says that PWD is running at a loss and lists out reasons for the shortages.

According to Dhavalikar Goa gets water at a cheaper rate when compared to other states.

It is billed at 2.05 rupees per liter while the government spends 12 rupees per litre to treat it.

And people scream blue murder if the water rate is increased even by one paisa.

Ironically Dhavlikar says that Revenue Minster Rohan Khaunte's constituency Porvorim does not get proper water as the village is situated on a plateau.

In a reply to opposition MLA Nilkhant Harlankar's allegations, Dhavlikar says that all work but one which was proposed in Thivim are done.

And that one tender is stuck due to GST issues.
