Formalin issue: Minister admits not possible to check all fish imports

10 Aug 2018 07:39 PM

Formalin issue is still burning. And people are still not satisfied that fish is safe.

Now to add to the fear and the uncertainty, the Fisheries Minister Vinod Palyekar says that it was not practical to check each and every crate of fish that comes into Goa.

So is the fish safe or not?

Vinod was replying to Goa 365 query on the fish entering Goa.

Even though the government has vacated the ban on import of fish, the minister says that some mechanism has to be worked out to gain the confidence of consumers in Goa.

So are the promises of the government on checking incomplete? Or the fisheries minister himself is not confident of the checks?

The Fisheries Minister said he would sit with Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar once he is back from the US and work out some mechanism to check fish imported into the state.
