60 odd loaded barges await court's decision

The Goa Barge Owners Association has now expressed their concerns overloaded barges that might get damaged due to rough weather conditions at sea.

The High Court on Thursday had dismissed the plea to review its order to revoke the ban on ore transportation.

There are currently 55 to  60 odd barges that are loaded with ore cargo however due to the court order they are kept standstill.

According to GBOA President Raymond D’sa many barges are anchored next to each other and due to rough sea conditions, there is a high possibility of their barges getting damaged.

Since they are loaded they cannot remove the crew and this increases their overheads.
