Chief Minister Parrikar has stated that the Shah Commission estimate of 35,000 Crore rupees loss of revenue was wrong as it was based on extraction from 578 hectares out of lease areas. But a survey conducted by the state government showed it to be only 10 hectares.

Parrikar said that it would take around 2-3 months for all the fact-finding teams of CA’s and the SIT reports to be analysed and a final figure of loss of revenue to be collated.

The Justice MB Shah report still haunts the state government. It has pointed out various lacunae in the monitoring of mining by the authorities as well as loss of revenue to the government.

According to the Shah Commission, loss to the state exchequer was to the tune of 35 thousand crore.

However, the Chief Minister says that loss is only 3500 to 4000 crore rupees.

And the state has already recovered some 300 crore rupees. He even addressed a press conference on the sidelines of the session to clarify what he meant.

The question was raised by Congress MLA Luizinho Faleiro who sought information on the total loss of mining revenue to the state exchequer as per the Shah commission report.
