Revolutionary Goan’s padyatra which is aimed at raising awareness over the ongoing Mhadei issue began on a disappointing note as it was stopped twice by local authorities over complaints received from the local Panchayat.

The 9 day Mhadei Padyatra of Revolutionary Goans was stopped twice on its inaugural day in Sattari. In the first instance Goa Police stated that the Thane panchayat had complained about inconvenience being caused to the general public over the route,

while the issue of law and order was cited as the key reason for the second halt. Even as RG founder Manoj Parab termed the move vendetta, could there be more than what meets the eye?

The cause to save Mhadei has gained momentum particularly among the opposition and has united likeminded activists. As such when Goa Police and local authorities were questioned, there was plain silence.

RG insiders meanwhile blamed local MLA and Minister Vishwajeet Rane over the ruckus alleging that it was at his behest that the yatra was stopped. The Mhadei River journeys through many constituencies including Sattari, represented by Rane. RG’s Manoj Parab had also contested against him during the last assembly elections.
