TMC comes out guns blazing against tourism dept over corruption, touts, and app

The TMC on Tuesday hit out at the tourism department over its failure to properly address corruption charges against its department officials. Party spokesperson TrajanoD’mello questioned Tourism Minister Khaunte as to why people have to approach the very department accused of corruption.

: While the state government had promised a slew of apps, most are yet to see the light of day. While the state has one taxi app – Goa Miles, the tourism department had promised yet another one. This second app, however, has been shrouded in confusion and controversy according to the TMC.

The tourism minister has time and again been stressing the need to eradicate illegal touts from the state, especially along the northern coastal belt. The TMC, however, says that the minister is only targeting touts along the Calangute constituency and not any other, solely because of a fight for power over revenue from the said touts. Listen.
