Is government doing enough to control the spread of deadly corona virus in Goa? It’s a debatable issue. But part of the government is certainly creating obstacles in what measures government is taking. Urban development minister Milind Naik is in the forefront. Along with the locals of Sada, he has strongly objected to the quarantine centre being set up in the old Coast Guard building. Over 600 people gathered in the port town on Thursday to oppose this centre.

According to local MLA and minister Milind Naik, the quarantine centre is located in the densely populated area and it could spread the corona virus if suspects are treated here. Locals and MPT workers also gheraoed the deputy collector on the issue. Even the Congress has vehemently opposed this move.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane personally visited the airport on Thursday early morning at around 2, to inspect the arrangements of thermal scanning of the passengers arriving by international flights. Airport Director Gagan Malik, Dierector of Health Dr Jose D’Sa and GMC Dean Dr Shivanand Bandekar also accompanied him.

A bus was also kept ready at the airport to transport the suspected passengers. One overage Goan passenger, who came from Dubai, was taken to the quarantine centre in Madgao.
