Lower LPG rates or face consequences: Goa Mahila chief

12 Oct 2018 07:06 PM

The state Mahila Congress has given the government a deadline of seven days to reduce the rates of LPG cylinders in the state.

And if not the women of the Mahila Congress will come out on the streets in protest, State Mahila Chief Pratima Coutinho threatened.

The LPG rates are on an upward spiral for quite some time now, reaching almost 900 rupees. The last increase was almost 60 rupees. This and the skyrocketing rates of petrol and diesel have stretched the budget across the spectrum,

but especially of the middle class.  Listen to Pratima on the cylinder rates and her dig at the BJP Mahila leaders both at the state and national level.

Pratima said that she had met some of the workers who deliver cylinders in the state and they had requested her to highlight their plight.

She said that they said that they were being paid half of what they are supposed to get, no uniforms and no medical facilities.
