The revolution won't begin without someone dying. We are ready to die. Its better to die with bullets fired by police instead of dying breathing coal dust. We have lost faith in politicians. The days of listening to politicians are over. Now politicians have to listen to the people, Velim villagers said while speaking on the coal issue.

The Local MLA had assured the people to stop the work of double tracking at Velim. However, work went on as usual. The people had to step in and stop the work. They blamed local Congress MLA Luizinho Faleiro for this . After lots of hue and cry, the deputy collector directed Konkan railway contractor to stop the work.

The work will suspended until the decision comes from the cabinet. Salcette deputy collector Jyoti Kumari reached the spot on Tuesday. She told protestors that land acquisition process has already done and people are already compensated. However, local questioned her how can someone claim ownership on the land unless panchayat gives NOC.
