Cortalim crisis: CM wakes up officials, testing times on Monday

Too little, too late. This perhaps could be the most appropriate phrase for commuters’ Cortalim traffic issue.

After the Chief Minister’s directive, the authorities took measures to ease out traffic. But this took a week while commuters suffered on the same stretch every day.

Also on Friday night, in all haste, authorities filled up the potholes and widened the road. Question is what took the authorities so long to wake up?

For those traveling via Cortalim, traffic is an everyday struggle. Sometimes it takes them 2-3 hours to reach their destination.

A journey that should normally take 45 minutes. Media had raised this issue on Monday after horrendous traffic jams had tested everybody's patience.  But why did officials and elected officials wake up to this problem only after so much of pressure? Is the beauracracy on holiday?

Finally Chief Minister from the US had to make a long-distant call to wake up those in slumbers. Late Friday night, there was an attempt to fill potholes, widen roads.
