The issue of Formalin has hit the Goan fisherfolk severely. Almost 90 per cent customers have preferred to stay away from the fish markets. In Madgao, Panaji and even elsewhere.

The demand is only for the local fresh fish of Manos, Katali and Gorovnni.

Because government is not checking the fish imported from other states. It was done only on last Thursday. Then it was stopped.

Look how our Goan fish vendors as well as fish eaters are reacting to this.

Madgao fish market is the biggest fish market of Goa. It was always found full.

But see the condition of the market today. Hardly anybody seen. They look at the fish and move away. Frozen fish is not in demand.

This parking lot was always full. And this is the area of the vehicles coming from outside. Hardly any vehicles. The fish vendors are crying for customers.

Mingelin Pereira from Betalbatim is a regular fish buyer in Madgao market. He has stopped going there. He now goes to Velsao to buy fresh fish of Katalli.

Panaji market is also found deserted. No buyer is found near any big fish. But you can see some buyers hunting for local fish of Manos, Katali or Gorovnni. Listen to them.

Six days have passed Formalin was found in the fish brought from outside Goa.

That time the mood of fish vendors was different. But now they themselves are demanding that government checks each and every vehicle coming with fish from outside Goa.
