It’s confirmed now. The third Mandovi bridge would not be fully operational this month.

The access road to Ponda by-pass would take at least one more month.

This is confirmed by GSIDC Chairman Deepak Pavaskar while conducting load testing on Thursday.

GSIDC Chairman Deepak Pauskar told Goa 365 that L&T will hand over the full bridge to government on 10th and it would be inaugurated after 12th January after Prime Minister Narendra Modi finalizes his date.

The vehicles would ply normally from Porvorim to Merces after inauguration.

For load testing, 12 fully loaded truck are kept on Porvorim side of the bridge to check the strength.

These trucks would be kept for 24 hours to determine its safety.

However, the load testing on cable stayed bridge is not done yet.

Siddharth Kunkolkar said the test would be conducted as per safety standards laid by Government of India.
