There is a good news for the Madgao-Panaji travellers.

PWD Miniseter Sudin Dhavalikar has found out a much shorter route to divert traffic from Verna and Kuthali junction.

Instead of 14 kilometres extra, it would be now four and a half kilometres more from Panaji side and only two kilometres more from Madgao side.

Both are one-ways. And may start after three months.

PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar once again visited the Kuthali-Verna stretch on Wednesday along with Kuthali MLA Alina Saldanha and PWD officials to find an alternative after closing Verna to Kuthali stretch for one year to complete the overbridge work.

The old proposal of diverting traffic via Vasco of 22 kms was last week changed to diversion from Chikhli with additional 14 kms.

But now the new alternative is two one-ways.

For Panaji side, from Kuthali ferry jetty, Thane, Loutolim road to Verna.

And for Madgao side, new service road from Verna to the culvert at Kuthali junction, parallel to the railway track.
