Despite stiff opposition, TDR now into TCP act

The town and country planning amendment bill was passed after a lengthy explanation by the Minister Vijai Sardesai and an intervention of the chief minister.



The Act will introduce the concept of transfer of development rights. The opposition’s move to refer it to a select committee was defeated by a division of votes. 

The Chief Minister intervened amidst the rather lukewarm debate which was mainly of the TCP minister explain his rationale of the accommodation reservation and the transfer of development rights.

Parrikar assured the house that the rules to implement the bill once it becomes an act would be made by a government committee taking the opposition members on board.
