The government has decided to come down hard against private taxi drivers creating law and order problem in the State. Transport Minister Mauvin Godhino has warned to cancel the taxi permit, and not renew their permits until they get police clearance. While, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has expressed confidence that nearly 50% of private taxi owners will agree to operate under an app. While on other hand, as a part of peaceful protest private taxi operators will submit their permits for cancellations if Goa Miles is not scrapped within 2 days

Taxi strike continued on the third day as well. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Tourism Minister Babu Ajgaonkar, Transport Minister Mauvin Godhino, and Calangute MLA Michael Lobo had convened a meeting on the issue on Saturday late night. Officials of the transport department, tourism, police, and members of TTAG and GCCI were also present. CM said alternate arrangements are made for tourists. If a tourist is stranded he should call PCR and help will arrive. While Lobo says some private taxis have shown a willingness to operate under app but some leaders are misguiding them.

The BJP has extended support to Goa Miles stating the app-based service has bought charisma to the Goan tourism industry. BJP vice-president Damu Naik said 100% of taxi drivers of Goa Miles are Goan and tourists have even given good reviews. The app is only for the welfare of taxi drivers.

The private taxi operators have planned the further strategy. They have given two days ultimatum to scrap Goa Miles. If not, the taxi operators from coastal areas along with other operators from parts of Goa will surrender their permits.
