In the absence of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, the rest of the cabinet plans to act as a shock absorber, so that the impact of collapsed administration is not felt by the people.

In view of this, the ministers met on Thursday.

But they call it a review meeting, not a formal cabinet meeting.

The chief minister is undergoing treatment in Delhi.

Due to his frequent absences over the last 7 months for treatment, there has been disquiet both in the government as well as attacks by the opposition citing lack of governance.

The ministers now plan to meet every Wednesday to review the administration and implementation of budget announcements.

Congress leader Ramakant Khalap had predicted a political earthquake in the near future since the administration has collapsed.

Minister Vijay Sardesai counters this in his own style.
