Goa365 Impact: Dilapidated Quepem govt school gets help
11 Mar 2018 07:20 PM
On March 8th Goa 365 did a ground report on a government school in Kanibag Morpirla, Quepem. The school is in a pathetic state.
Before this, PTA members had made several representations to authorities.
But to no avail.
There are 82 students studying in the school from standards first to seventh.
At the first look of it, the roof feels like it may fall down at any moment.
What is worse is the toilets have been built but there is no water connection.
Children are forced to fetch water from a well 200 metres away.
And there is no proper road too.
But Goa365 has made an impact. Hotelier cum Social activist Serafina Cota has come forward to help.
Few years ago, Serafine Cota had provided a boat for school-going children in Canacona’s Galgibaug to cross over the river to reach their school.
Not just him, but even local MLA Babu Kavalekar immediately reached out to the school authorities promising the dig a borewell that could provide water to not just to the school but even the villagers residing around
After the story that went on-air on March 8th, the work of the borewell is underway.
However, we promise to keep a track on the story till these dry taps get the water connection and there is a proper infrastructure for these students
