Goa to receive 5th consecutive Food Safety Index Award

Goa is all set to receive its 5th consecutive Food Safety Index award instituted by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India in the "Small States" category. The announcement was made by health Minister Vishwajit Rane.



The State Food Safety Index works to ensure that the States and Union territories work towards ensuring safe food for citizens. And, as per their performance for the year 2021-22, Goa stood first, followed by Manipur and Sikkim.

The states are assessed on five parameters such as human resource and institutional data, enforcement and compliance, testing infrastructure, consumer empowerment, training and awareness for the rankings and awards

 Health minister Vishwajit Rane via tweet announced that Goa will be receiving the prestigious Food Safety Index award instituted by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India for the fifth consecutive year in the "Small States" category. The minister further informed that the recognition will be presented by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandviya.
