Gujarat, His Holiness Pope Francis elevated Reverend Fr. SebastioMascarenhas SFX as the next Bishop of the Diocese of Baroda.

His Eminence Oswald Cardinal Gracias, Archbishop of Bombay Archdiocese, and His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferro were the Principal Consecrators.

The Episcopal Consecration was attended by 22 Bishops, about 330-350 priests, approximately 400-500 religious sisters, and 7000-8000 lay faithful.

Delegates from the state of Goa, Minister for Public Works Nilesh Cabral, Inspector General of Police Omvir Singh Bishnoi, and Secretary for Revenue and General Administration Sandeep Jacques,

were also present. Reverend Fr. SebastioMascarenhas SFX is the fourth bishop of the Diocese of Baroda and a member of the Society of St Francis Xavier, also known as the Pilar Fathers.
