The cabinet has given its approval to hand over the land in Dhargal to the Goa Cricket Association to build the stadium.

Ex-Secretary of GCA, Shirish Naik has called it a blunder by Parrikar Government.

During this week’s cabinet announced, Sports Minister Babu Azgaonkar along with CM Parrikar announced a stadium with a sitting capacity of 50,000 at Dhargal.

Though Parrikar did announce to the media that money to build the stadium will come from the BCCI, Shirish Naik has his own apprehensions.

The land was earlier earmarked for a sports city but now this has been shelved.

The cabinet note also stated that in case of default or violation of any terms and conditions by the GCA, the plot and its appurtenances shall be reverted back to the Government of Goa.
