Unused foot bridge in Sanvordem collapses in Zuari river, many missing

Some people managed to swim ashore. But the number of missing people was not known till the news went on air.

 The foot bridge was not used for over last 10 years. Thus it was corroded.

A news spread on Thursday evening that somebody committed suicide from the new Sanvordem bridge. People gathered at the river to watch.

Many of them climbed on the old foot bridge. Due to weight, the bridge collapsed in the river. Some of the people swam ashore.

But the number of missing people was not known till the news went on air. Fire brigade from Kudchade rushed to the spot.

But they had no equipment to either jump in the river nor to conduct the search.
