The Under 17 world cup is finally here and Goa is ecstatic.

Finally almost thirteen thousand crazy football crazy Goans could witness live a world cup match.

In the first match held at a jam packed Jawaharlal Nehru stadium at Fatorda on Saturday evening Germany won everybody’s hearts by beating their opponent Costa Rica by two goals to one.

Germany started their FIFA U-17 World Cup campaign on a positive note defeating Costa Rica by two goals to one in their Group C encounter at Fatorda.

Skipper Fiete Arp and Noah Awuku were on target for Germany while Andrez Gomez pulled one back for Costa Rica.

Iran and Guinea is crossing swords in the second Group C encounter. Watch the highlights.

Kochi’s first match of the FIFA U-17 World Cup was also probably the biggest of the group stage as Brazil took on Spain in a Group D match at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium.

Spain took an early lead through a Wesley own goal and it seemed like Spain would cruise to a win.

However, Brazil’s Lincoln equalised for the South American team.

This goal seemed to galvanise Brazil who continued to attack Spain, pushing the U-17 European champions on the back foot

Their attacking intent was rewarded as Paulinho gave them the lead just before half-time.

His goal was enough to seal the game for Brazil despite Spain’s best attempts at a goal in the second half.
