Just like many other Government primary schools in Goan villages, the primary school in PethechawadaKorgao was also shut down because of no students in the school.

However, from last 3 years, the locals have kept the tradition of worship of wisdom and education alive in the premises of school. The villagers get together and perform Saraswati puja in this school.

The tradition of Saraswati pujan or worship of the goddess of wisdom and education exists in the state from centuries now.

It is celebrated during the days of Navratri. Despite the closure of this school, the locals of PethechawadaKorgao still celebrate Ssaraswati puja for three days in the premises of the school. They have planned to keep the tradition alive.
