Pilgrims leave for Vailankanni

The first train from Vasco da Gama railway station left for Vailankanni on Saturday at 11:30 in the morning.



These are special trains as Vailankanni is a site of religious reverence for most Christians. The next train will leave from Vasco on the 3rd of September.

 Vailankanni in Tamil Nadu on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal, 350 km south of Chennai. The town is home to a Roman Catholic  shrine  the Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health.

Velankanni has been chosen as one of the heritage cities for the Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana scheme of the union Government.
