The Kerala’s biggest festival Onam was celebrated at Ayyappa Temple in Vasco on Monday.

The malyalis in Goa  had  decorated Pookalam,  with the help of variety of flower petals before the portrait of Karunakar Guru in order to mark  Onam celebration.

Onam is a festival of flowers, farmers, nature and communal harmony. Onam is basically a harvest festival and thus it is not related to any religion.

It is about celebrating harvest in the best manner. T Ravishankar said that there is historical saying behind celebrating the festival of Onam

wherein it was informed that a King Mahabali ruled Kerala with equality, peace, honesty and prosperity which made the state the paradise on the earth.
