Goenkarponn, unity themes of speeches at Margao Narkasur competition

Town and Country Planning minister Vijai Sardessai, Tourism Minister Babu Ajgaokar and former Chief minister and present Margao MLA Digamber Kamat were present at the widely attend Narkasur competition held on Tuesday night. 

This 22 year old competition organised by Solid Party saw the political honchos call for uplifting the Goan culture and ethos and vanquishing all that ails the state.

Narkasur Chaturdashi is celebrated on the eve of Diwali in Goa where Goans celebrate the victory of Lord Krishna over the powerful demon king, Narkasur.

Effigies of the demon Narkasur are paraded on the streets before being burnt.

 According to the legend a great battle was fought between Narkasur and Lord Krishna in which Lord Krishna shot his Sudharshan Chakra, cut off the evil head of the Narkasur and slit his tongue.
