‘Margin as expected, Ponnjekars have posed faith in me’: Parrikar

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar won from his home turf in Panaji for the 6th time. Parrikar won the by-polls by 4803 votes.



According to him, the margin is as expected. He also made a point that the margin and the votes polled by Congress in Panaji are almost on par.

The counting of the Panaji and Valpoi by-polls were held on Monday. CM Parrikar maintained the lead throughout the 3 rounds and got total 9862 votes, while Congress candidate Girish Chodankar secured 5059 votes.

Anand Shirodkar of the Goa Suraksha Manch polled around 220 votes while independent candidate Kenneth Silveira got 96 votes. Interestingly, NOTA was third with 301 votes followed by Shirodkar and Silveira.
