Vishwajeet, BJP laugh out disqualification plea

13 May 2017 06:10 PM

The disqualification petition filed by the Congress against its former MLA and present Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane has caused a lot of heartburn in the BJP camp.

Both the party and the minister strongly criticized the decision by the Congress.

Vishwajeet said that he had not defected but had resigned as an MLA and was going back for a fresh mandate to the people of his Constituency. Rane had abstained from the vote of confidence and had subsequently submitted his resignation to the pro tem speaker Sidharth Kunkolienkar.

The BJP questioned why the Congress had taken so long to file the disqualification petition and why all 15 MLAs had to sign the petition when only one was needed.
