Goans who seek Portuguese passport could get some relief.

Goa Forward leader Vijai Sardesai has urged the chief minister to try and get the process of verification of birth records from Delhi, back to the Portuguese Consulate in Goa.

Currently, the verification of their papers are routed through the External Affairs Ministry in New Delhi. Due to this Goans face a lot of hardships.

Goans have been queuing up for Portuguese passports for some time now as they have a special preference due to the fact that Portuguese ruled the state to close to 350 years.

Vijai said no one should put obstacles in the path of people who seek Portuguese passport as the government is not in a position to provide jobs to youngsters in Goa.
