There is no need to speculate any more now. Because Panaji MLA Sidharth Kunkolkar has already resigned .

To vacate the space for Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. He will contest from Panaji. And the by-elections for Panaji and Valpoi would probably be after Chovoth.

Sidharth submitted his resignation to Speaker DrPramod Sawant on Wednesday morning.

He had become the MLA for the second time. But both his terms remained incomplete. He contested in February 2015 for the Panaji Constituency Assembly By-Polls after Parrikar resigned and went to Delhi.

He was the MLA for almost two years of his tenure. And now he resigned within two months after State Assembly Elections as Parrikar came back from Delhi.

Former Defence Minister Parrikar has however not resigned as the Rajya Sabha MP.

The central party leadership has told him to hang on till President’s election in July. The local party leaders have however congratulated Sidharth for vacating his seat for the chief minister.
