Fisheries Minister Vinod Palayekar has flexed his muscles to provide better quality of fish to Goenkar. And he suspects that the fish in the market is adulterated with pesticides as well as bad quality of water.

He has now instructed his department to conduct inspections along with the Food and Drugs department.

The Fisheries Minister Vinod Palyekar on Wednesday had directed the Food and Drugs department to monitor the quality of fish sold in fish markets and submit a report.

The fisheries minister said that he had been getting complaints that fish was being adulterated with formalin and pesticides mixtures and bad quality of water used to make ice used to preserve the fish.

He also said that traders need to control the process of fish so that it s affordable to all.
