Parrikar & Vishwajeet take oath as MLAs, MP resigns as MP

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane took the oath of office as MLAs on Monday.



The Speaker Pramod Sawant administered the Oath to both in his chambers at the Assembly Complex, Porvorim.

The chief minister who was a Rajya Sabha MP during his stint as Defence Minister said that he had resigned as MP at the beginning of the month. 

Present at the ceremony were Union Minister Sripad Naik, Revenue Minister, Rohan Khaunte, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho,

Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar and MLA’s Dayanand Sopte, Rajesh Patnekar, Alina Saldanha, Praveen Zantye, Prasad Gaonkar and former Siddharth Kuncolienkar.

The chief minister resigned as Rajya Sabha MP after he and Viswajit won the bye elections to the Panaji and Valpoi Assembly Constituencies held on August 23.

The chief minister who is the Panji MLA said that work on making Panji a model city would start soon.
