Luizinho urges Sonia to relieve him immediately

Congress State unit party president and Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro said that he had asked the national Congress president Sonia Gandhi to relieve him as president with immediate effect.

He said that a new president would be elected after two months, but he did not wish to continue as the state president with immediate effect.

The Congress party won 17 seats in the recent assembly elections up from the nine in the 2012 assembly elections.

However after they could not manage to grab power there were a lot of rumblings within the party seeking a change at the top.

Luizinho said that the government should ensure that no student remains without getting admission.

He also said that the government should start skill development programmes for those students who do not pursue higher education.
