HC issues notices to Speaker, Protem Speaker in Vishwajeet case

The Bombay High Court issued notices to the speaker and the pro tem speaker on the disqualification petition filed by the Congress Party against Health Minister Vishwajit Rane.

The next hearing has been fixed for June 7.

Vishwajit, a former Congress MLA, abstained from voting in the vote of confidence against the present BJP-led government even after signing the whip when he was a Congress MLA.

After that he resigned from the Assembly and the Congress party and joined the BJP.

He was subsequently made the Health Minister. Friday’s hearing was on the issue whether either party had an objection to Justice Mahesh Sonak hearing the case.
