Civil Supplies minister Govind Gaude Aaude said that the state government was studying the Centre’s proposal to close down ration shops and transfer the cash of the public distribution scheme directly to the accounts of beneficiaries.

Fair price shops have been the backbone of the government initiatives to help the below poverty line people.

However, it has seen a lot of leaks and a lot of money has been wasted without it reaching the end users.

There has been a lot of debate on how to plug these leaks and the government has been trying to ensure that the benefits directly reach end user.

It has already begun this by directly crediting LPG gas cylinder subsidies.

Minister for Art and Culture, Govind Gaude said that Kala Bhavan in Sancoale will be completed and commissioned within the next 18 months.

He however acknowledged that there was undue delay in the completion of Sancoale Kala Bhavan while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the inauguration of  Students Council programme at  MES College at the college campus on Thursday
