Goa Govt to file review petition against liquor ban near highways

There is a little ray of hope for the liquor traders on the highways



Goa government has decided to file a review petition in the Supreme Court against its order of revoking licenses of liquor outlets within 500 metres of the highways.

Goa Forward on the other hand has offered all kind of help to the liquor traders. 

The Supreme Court had mandated that all liquor outlets within 500 mts from the National and State Highways be shut down by 31st March.

The State Government has constituted a 12 member core committee to identify the sites. 

Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar opined that the Supreme Courtcould have consulted the states before passing this order. 

Meanwhile Goa Forward Spokesman Durgadas Kamat has assured the liquor traders to help them in approaching the courts as well as to participate in their agitation, including blocking the highways.
