Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar said that Goa cannot get 24x7 power supply merely by improving basic internal infrastructure.

What needs to be changed are the high tension cables as well conductors of the power supply we get from the other states.

However, the state will have to pay 1500 crore rupees for the infrastructure like transformers and underground cabling as there were some lapses in preparing the estimates.

However, the funds for changing of the high tension lines and the conductors that bring the current will be given by the Centre.

The minister was replying to the electricity demands during the evening session of the assembly.

He also reiterated his promise to ensure that LED streetlights would be installed by Ganesh, minus 5 to 10 per cent.

There were a lot of complaints about the erratic power supply and non-functional LED streetlights from both treasury as well as opposition benches.
